1st Semester Final
This Semester I learned a lot but I mostly learned more in AutoCad. In AutoCad you can do a lot of different projects. I've been working on a project to use the plasma cuter and it's really fun to do the design, it's a lot of work but it's worth seeing how it turns out! I also learned that I want to be a lot more hands on with the tools. I want to work on cutting the medal and welding it seems so exciting, I was very afraid to even go near the tools but now that I see people doing it, it seems exciting! Hopefully I when we get back from Winter break I can get started on the fire ring project and get to welding!

Week 15
This week we watched a video on a bus that runs on poop. We also watched a NASA video. We worked in AutoCad on working on the design for the fire pit ring. We had to watch a video on YouTube about how to do the design and get an image on the internet and make it less pixelated. I really liked doing the design because we had to take the image into different places and being able to do it on our own and just learning how to do it off of YouTube was really easy! I'm excited to get started.
This weeks essential question was how do we use natural gas?
Natural gas is widely recognized as one of the most versatile and valuable of our North American energy resources because it can be used in so many important ways. A clean generating source for almost a quarter of the nation's electric power. Efficient heating, water heating and cooking for homes and businesses.

Week 14
This week we were planning our project out. Bianca and I were looking forward to doing a teardrop trailer we had our measurements and everything ready to go. We had some options to do different side projects as well. Since there was an odd number of people we didn't want to have to many people or not enough people so what we chose to do for our side job was a fire ring. the fire ring is something you just have a lot of people around just to gather up to get warm. I am looking forward to doing this project and hopefully we can get it done on time.
This weeks essential question is, What makes aluminum so special?
This weeks essential question is, What makes aluminum so special?
What’s so special about it? Aluminum is strong, lightweight, durable, flexible, extremely versatile, impermeable, corrosion resistant, an excellent conductor of electricity, non magnetic, non combustible, an abundant element in the earth’s crust and infinitely recyclable.
The tensile strength of pure aluminum is limited. But mix it with other elements and aluminum becomes very strong. When cold-rolled, an aluminum alloy becomes even stronger, sometimes doubling in strength. Some alloys also strengthen and harden by heat treatments, which increase their tensile strengths dramatically.
Aluminum is one of the most versatile and abundant raw materials found in the earth’s crust. An important advantage of aluminum is its sustainability and the fact that it can be recycled repeatedly, quickly, and cost-efficiently -- without any material decline in performance or quality. The recycling of aluminum delivers energy and capital investment savings relative to both the cost of producing primary aluminum and many other competing materials.

Week 13
This week we only had three days in class. What our new project is, is working on tear drop trailers. Bianca and I are gonna work on it together hopefully getting the results we want. We saw different ideas on the internet and we found one on Pintrest that we want to do we close to it. On Thursday we did our measurements and we are ready to get started!

Week 11
This week was a productive week. We worked on AutoCad 3D and we worked on 3D objects. We first looked at a cathedral and used different tools to see it at different angles. We also did MIG Welding but I didn't get a chance to try it out. I'm excited to see how I do when I do start working on it. If we weren't working on MIG Welding we just finished up our CNC routing projects what I did was make a new piece and I made sure it was bigger than the last piece I made just so I can fit what I wanted to fit. I tried to spray paint mine two different colors black on the bottom and red on the top kind of like an ombre.
Our essential question was,What is fracking and why are Americans so interested in talking about it?
Fracking is the process of extracting natural gas from shale rock layers deep within the earth. Fracking makes it possible to produce natural gas extraction in shale plays that were once unreachable with conventional technologies. Recent advancements in drilling technology have led to new man-made hydraulic fractures in shale plays that were once not available for exploration. In fact, three dimensional imaging helps scientists determine the precise locations for drilling.

Week 10
This week was different than the others, we all worked on MasterCam QuickPart and learned some new things about it and how it works. It's amazing how it can put in different designs on your project. On Tuesday I worked on making curves on my piece of wood so it doesn't have the sharp corners. After i did the curves I spray painted it red and on Thursday I actually got to get started in my project. I put my uncle's name and birthday and day he passed away on it. My project didn't come out as planned the letters were to small that you couldn't really see the detail of the font. What I plan on doing today is getting a bigger piece of wood and improving it. So far this has been a great week!
The essential question of the week is "Why is made in America" so important these days?
The essential question of the week is "Why is made in America" so important these days?
These days, “Made in America” isn’t as clear-cut as it used to be. Most Americans are aware that products branded with American labels may be made in overseas factories or assembled here with parts made overseas. Three-fourths of consumers say being manufactured in the U.S. is crucial for them to consider it “made in America.” Half say being made by an American company or having parts manufactured in the U.S. is what matters. Only one-fourth cared whether a product was designed by an American.
Although buying American matters to all age groups, older respondents (age 48-plus) were the most likely to say it’s important to do so. Women also placed greater importance on buying American than men do. Perhaps surprisingly, three-fourths of both Republicans and Democrats say buying American is important, compared to just 60 percent of independents.

Week 8&9
In week 8 we shared our class with an English class. When the English class came to ours we made planter boxes. All of us worked together to finish the boxes. The second day they came to our class they did something from their English class we read pieces of a book and we explained what we thought was going on in that piece. I never really noticed how much information came be in a couple sentences. I'm really happy that we got to spend time with a couple of other students so we can teach them what we know and they came to us showing what they know.
In week 9 we worked on our projects on Monday and Tuesday. My group and I have been done with our projects so we are just making our own stickers to keep us busy. This week we were assigned to fill out a performance evaluation self week self review and our teacher will call us up to go over our grade and what we need to work on to improve ourselves. I think that this year I have tried my hardest but I do have somethings to work on. The question of the week was what are the top three job qualities you need. The three qualities you need is to be on time, show up, and have a positive attitude.

Week Seven
This week we switched it up a little we did our project work Monday and Tuesday and worked in AutoCAD Wednesday and Thursday. With our project we are so close to being done we added a new quote to the window that says caution duct tape may fail. Our window is coming out amazing i didn't think that it would turn out to look like that. In AutoCAD we did a die stamp challenge, the die challenge didn't even compare to the ones we've done before. It was a lot more difficult than it looked we had to use the tools we learned and we were kind of on our own.
This weeks essential question was, what is the minimum wage debate? Minimum wage is the lowest wage by law or a special agreement. President Obama is trying to raise minimum wage.

Week Six
This week we did a small part challenge, we had to try to make a small part the same as the way it showed us in the picture. The part looked really easy to do but when you have to do every step to make it look the same it's really difficult and for as small as the tool was there were a lot of steps to do to get to the end. I finished my tool but it looked way shorter than the original. Also this week we have been working on our projects and my group and I decided to make a full border around the window and put a bunch of tools around the window. We made our tools and hopefully we can finish by today.
This weeks question was about Isis, Isis is also known as the Islamic State are a terrorist organization. The U.S. is dropping bombs in Isis because of the beheading's of the three people.

Week Five
This week we used AutoCAD, we drew a framed wall we had to go through a couple of steps that were kind of difficult, but I got through most steps and I must have had done something wrong because as I was drawing the wall it didn't look the way it needed to look like, but for the most part it was pretty easy to do. Also, this week were working on our projects were working on making stickers for a window, what we chose to put on the window is tools and in the middle of all the tools we are going to put "Our Work Is Beautiful" i'm really excited to this project because it's really fun learning all the new things you can do with the machine.

Week Four
This week we were on Auto Cad on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday we used the trim tool, dimensions and on Tuesday we used the Object Snap tool. I didn't get the trim tool or dimensions to work because my planter box wasn't done. On Tuesday when we used the object snap, we did an object snap challenge, the challenge was to do the the same exact shape that was on one side and we had to use midpoint and endpoint and more. On Wednesday and Thursday we worked on our projects my project i'm doing is the vinyl cutter, my group and I made stickers for suicide prevention week for next week. Last we talked about taxes, taxes are workers income and business and costs that go up on services and transactions.

Week 3
This week we did a little more in Auto Cad, we actually drew a planter box. My first try wasn't really successful. Also my second try I got a little farther but I didn't finish it all. We also learned some safety tips about the miter saw, we saw how the saw works, and how it can turn to different angles. Last, we talked about unions and how unions first started and how unions work now.

Auto Cad 2
This week we used Auto Cad, we learned some new things. We learned how to make lines and use the box on the side to see all around our shape, i thought that part of Auto Cad was really cool. We used Auto Cad for two days and it's a little complicating to understand for the first few times, because there's a lot to do and a lot of tools you can use. I think it's cool that some people use Auto Cad to create big things, that's another part of Auto Cad that really caught my attention.
